Luigi Micheletti Award 2025

The European Museum Academy’s Luigi Micheletti Award is one of Europe’s most prestigious museum awards and is presented annually to particularly innovative museums in the fields of contemporary history, industry, and science. The coveted award was presented for the 29th time and honors outstanding permanent exhibitions that create unique museum narratives.

A jury of international experts evaluated implementation of content and the integration of exhibits, scenography and design, use of media, and visitor experience.

European Museum of the Year Awards 2026

At the 2026 European Museum Awards, the Obersalzberg Documentation Center received a Special Commendation from the jury. Its members recognized the Obersalzberg Documentation Center as a welcoming place for remembrance, learning, and historical-political education that critically engages with a difficult past.

The European Museum of the Year Award has been presented since 1977 under the patronage of the Council of Europe. It stands for innovation and excellence in museums and reflects Europe’s cultural diversity. Creative and innovative approaches to presenting and communicating knowledge on a wide variety of topics are of particular importance. In 2026, the Obersalzberg Documentation Center was nominated for the European Museum Awards alongside 34 other institutions from 16 European countries.
